Hi, think this is in the right section here, I just had a quick question regarding URLs and SEO.

Okay, say you have a site with a FAQ section and seperate pages for each question, I'll use tea as an example.

You might have some questions looking like this

what are the health benefits of tea?

what are the different types of tea?

Is it beneficial to name the url for the page as follows

    /what-are-the-health-benefits-of-tea.html

    and

    /what-are-the-different-types-of-tea.html

Will this increase the ranking of the page, will google deem it more relevant if you type in one of those phrases in to the search bar?
Or would it be better to just go with /benefits /types (assuming your url has the word 'tea' in it anyway.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Its definitely better to use your main keywords in the name of the file, not so much because google will rank it higher, but if you do rank in google for the keywords, when a user searches for those keywords they will be in bold in the serps making your listing more 'attractive' to users to click on.

Internal linking amongst your questions or posts is also really important. This will help you increase the ranking of each page and relevancy as well

Your right on the money with that one. It is a common trend among web developers.

Neither, I'd go with /tea-types/ and /tea-benefits/ and make them default index pages. More powerful for SEO.

thats a great way of expanding your sites content

tip: use a keyword tool to search for "why keyword" "how keyword" etc to get some good fodder for this.

my second tip is to make sure these pages are loaded with unique content as theres nothing worse than a faq that consists of 4 or six sentences - you're just asking for pages like this to be dumped into the supplemental results.
