    Hi - I have a site which ranks well on plenty of keyphrases on Google.com, but has made very little impact on Google.co.uk.

    THis is despite the fact that the site is served from the UK.

    The site is a .com, but I have set the region in Google analytics to the UK as well.

    IS there anything else I can do? (I cannot use the .co.uk site)

    You would have thougt that given the fact the IP / Server is UK based that .co.uk would at least be equal - but the listigs are so much poorer...

    Thanks in advance!

    Usually this takes a few weeks or months before setting it to uk actually filters through - 6 months isn't an unreasonable time. But what you should also do to climb the .co.uk rankings is both link to and be linked from .co.uk sites and also link to and be linked from UK hosted sites.

    Sign up top Google Webmaster Tools, you need to add a file or a meta tag to verify you own the site, then set the site as being aimed at a UK audience.

    UK / US traffic It's a bit of an either or until your site gets really huge.
    If you're after globa traffic just be happy with the .com rankings

    couple of things,

    make sure you're using all the content type and language codes for GB English

    secondly get links to your site from .co.uk domains and british sites

    that'll sort you right out

    Thanks - the tags appear as follows:

    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" CONTENT="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" />
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Language" content="en-gb" />

    Is that correct?

    Regards

    You need good quality backlinks from UK hosted websites.

    Normally, you would want to have .co.uk domain, UK hosting and in webmaster tools set to target UK.
