I have seen some big changes in some of my rankings from the last few days and was just wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same thing.

I am talking going from position 1 in Google to position 7 over night! Another was position 1 and 2 to page 3.

If it's the Google Dance you will be different ranks over different servers...

I've had the same issue! My site is around 6 weeks old and was getting between 30/40 UVs a day then last few days hovering around 15/day, yesterday down to 2UVs! I've not changed anything in what I'm doing either...

Brand new sites often rank highly for the first few weeks but then drop back to their 'natural' position. What you describe is typical of my experiences.

    Hi,

Up and down, up and down, that is normal, but let me give you one tip:

"Instead of looking for what YOU did wrong or what happened to YOU (your site), take a look at the ones who are on the top now, What did they do different, what have they done lately?"

That will open your mind to a new reality, follow them everyday use :

    1. The CACHED Link
    2. Archive.org
    3. Rank Checker (Firefox extension) &
    4. And do some backlink analysis using google and yahoo

    Good luck,

    James

@ wilwak - makes sense, seems to be the concencus on what others have said too, thanks.

@JamesEvans - this is very true. I agree in principle with what you say as I've been working in search a while now so understand the principles. However as I've never launched a site 'from scratch' this side of it is new to me.

For my site I'll take less notice of rankings, continue to slowly build good content and links and see what happens!

    Cheers, D

    1 month.

Only lost rankings for these keywords where as the others maintained their rankings.

It has really hurt traffic too. :scared

    Hallo Schebesta!

What if you start writing some articles, creating some hubpages, squidoo lenses, doing social bookmarking and doing some link building... That will help you.

if you aren't a long term holder, you could just be suffering the 'normal' ups and downs of the mighty Google. In fact, your previous number 1 spot may have been the 'blip', and where you are now might be 'usual'.

or did you mean that you've always ranked well, have recently hit number 1, and then have been dumped?

Yeah, ranked well like 2 for like 6 months. Went to number 1, then got massively dumped.

I have a feeling it is a Google blip.

I now know why people always talk about having many traffic sources otherwise it would be game over!
