IAB Affiliate Marketing Council - 28th February

Hi all

The next council meeting is on Thursday 28th February 15:00 - 16:30.

I'm pleased to say that several merchants and affiliates have been in touch and copies of the handbook have been flying off the virtual shelves. It also looks like we'll have a few extra attendees for the next meeting.

I'm currently putting the agenda together for this and if you have any suggestions on what you would like to see discussed - now is a good time to let me know.

I will post an agenda up here once it's started to take shape.

thanks

Dan

Not sure if this is the right place or a valid suggestion, but I'd like 100% cashback sites discussed and their long term impact on affiliate marketing, not just non-cashback affiliates, but merchants and networks - especially in the light that 2 new big sites have entered the arena and given the dominance one other has on the sector.

Is it good/bad for AM - and if agreed to be bad what steps can be taken to ensure AM isn't suffocated 12/18 months hence by these affiliates.

A second suggestion would be for the use of video linking to the meeting so that more people could potentially "attend" and contribute without having to go on tour to London.

Regards

Jason

I'd second your idea re: Video linking Jason.

Afternoons in London are a pain for me and it would be good to attend.

Thanks for your thoughts on video streaming. The short answer is that at the moment we aren't able to set up video streaming/conferencing for any IAB event/meeting. We are looking into the practicalities of this and if we are able to set up a workable and affordable system we'll then be able to stream/conference the council meetings to those who want it.

Yahoo Live would seem ideal for this: - LIVE: Home

I'd definitely set a side the time for a meeting but can't justify taking a day out to travel down to London.

Just wanted to say that todays meeting was excellent - the best one that I have been to to date and great to see some real actions points come out of it.

I'll put a blog post together at some point with what happened but hopefully we'll all see some useful feedback from it and continue to see more merchants and affiliates come along.

I'd second James on that one. Really good to see networks, agencies, merchants and affiliates all represented around the same table (though if the new attendance level is going to become the norm then I think Dan and the IAB are going to need to find a new room for us to meet in) - it literally was 'standing room only'.

I have to agree with James and Keith, I actually thought Ben Woods (chair) was quite inspiring in his enthusiasm to push issues forward. Great to see a good amount of merchants attending, we still need more affiliates though.

Totally concur with the above, genuinely excited about the future of the council.
