I'm having real problems with E & L (Equine & Livestock Insurance). We applied to them last year (2008) and were sent a form to register. We did - and then received from them a completely blank email which, I presume, was supposed to contain details of links etc.

About a month ago we got a letter from them telling us about their new affiliates website and giving us an affiliate number. Supposedly I'm able to get links, etc. from the website. Trouble is - that website doesn't exist.

I called their customer service who told me that I could log in to the website (!!) with the affiliate number and set up a password when I logged in (very secure!). They also told me there had been problems for "a couple of days" with the website and to try again. I have - for over a month - and the website simply doesn't exist (and, yes, I'm typing the name correctly, and, yes, it's a web address printed on a special leaflet all about their website!)

The only reason I keep trying is that they are one of the few insurers who have a speciality product I want to feature - or I'd simply give up.

But - does anyone else have this sort of experience with them - or am I alone?

    Hi Phil,

I can't help you with E&L I'm afraid but we can offer an alternative wedding insurance merchant for you - Weddingplan Wedding Insurance.

They currently offer the cheapest entry point policy in the market at £23.99 however policies can range up to £199.99 for their premium level of cover. Commissions are 12% of policy value (excl IPT) and you can sign up on our closed network Tracktor2.

We are the agency who are managing the programme on behalf of the merchant so if you do ever have any issues with the campaign then we are on hand to help.

If you have any questions about the programme please don't hesitate to get in touch either by PM, email or phone. Tel: 0161 228 1228.

I hope this is of interest to you and good luck with your other campaigns.

    Best regards,
    Rich

I have delt with both companies and problem is tracking. They both have phone numbers on the site and when testing these didn't track how the caller found the site - so no commission.

Sorry but I think neither are worth it IMHO.

If anyone HAS made any money from wedding insurance please let me know the company as we get around 4,500 brides a day onto the site and I'd love to find a way to monitize them. Or if a rep from either company would like to come back with a solution I'd be more than happy to eat my words.

    PM me any time.

    Bob

I persevered with E&L - someone here gave me a name of someone at the company. So, I contacted them by email. About a week later I got a reply from someone else who said they would help. So I sent them full information. Then they wanted a new agreement signed. So I signed it and sent it - recorded delivery. Nothing happened.

So, I contacted them again. This time I was told "someone from the IT department will email you everything you need within a week". That was months ago.

As it happens - I'm quite pleased. A web search on E&L shows that they have a very, very large number of unhappy customers. I didn't lose anything - except time and a couple of postage stamps. Some of their clients have lost large sums of money because they either won't pay out or only pay out a fraction of what was expected.

Check out some review sites - these guys won't enhance your reputation. :td

Hi Phil, I hope all is well.

Just wanted to bring your attention to WeddingPlan Insurance and how they offer competitive pricing for their whole range of insurance policies.

Towards the end of Summer, WeddingPlan slashed their entry level policy pricing to just £19.99 - the platinum level of cover is now at £199.99 with £50,000 worth of cancellation cover. Commissions are 12% of the policy value (Exc. IPT) and this programme is accessible on our closed network, Tracktor 2. :tup

We're anticipating good levels of traffic to WeddingPlan insurance as couples are currently already planning their weddings for Summer 2010 and it would be great to see if you would be interested in promoting this merchant?

If you have any questions or would like to know anything further, please do not hesitate to get in touch on my contact details below.

    Best regards,
    Chris

I experienced similar problems in trying to sign up with E&L Insurance, after being sent a pack in the post I went on the website, signed up to the programmes, returned the form and then...nothing. I've tried ringing a few times but gave up in the end as nobody I spoke to could help me and nobody returned my calls.

There is however a merchant called Insurance Choice (you can work with them direct or through Affiliate Window ) who promote niche Insurance products provided by E&L. Not as good was working with them direct but as Equine Insurance providers can be hard to come by its a good solution if you're looking for a merchant to fill that gap?

They are very slack and you are not alone. Signing up was one thing then getting actual links was another. I had to email them a few times to get going.
It's worth pursuing as you do get a few sales - although they send you a cheque for each one?

They have a really bad reputation in pet insurance, holding out claims payment to customers for months. Not only the affiliate side of things seems to be a problem.

Personally, I wouldn't advertise them on my websites either as they will let your visitors down.

    Bad, bad, bad.
