  Amazon UK Commission changes

Eligibility to participate in the "tiered" referral fee program is at our discretion. If we determine that you are not eligible to participate in the "tiered" referral fee program, you will earn referral fees in accordance with the "Classic" referral fee structure. Please note that in order to qualify for any "tier" of referral fees, you have to satisfy both the minimum unit sale commitment AND the minimum non-media (i.e., non-book, music or video (including VHS and DVD) unit sale commitment. If you are participating in the "tiered" referral fee program and you satisfy one requirement but not the other you will only be entitled to the referral fees for lowest tier for which you have satisfied both commitments.

Also, please note that the table above is only a summary of the two fee structures we intend to offer for the third quarter of 2003. Other terms and conditions will apply, which will be detailed in an updated Associates Program Operating Agreement that we intend to publish on the site on or about July 1, 2003. In the event of any conflict or inconsistency between anything on this page and the Operating Agreement, the terms of the Operating Agreement will control.

Is it worth me ticking tier even though I'm certain I won't meet their non-media requirement?

The way I see it you've got nothing to lose unless you don't sell any non-media items in the quarter (in which case you lose 20%).

I've gone for it on the basis that I'm sure I can manage to at least sell 1 (and if I don't I'll buy something cheap myself) and based on past performance should manage 5 so I sould at least get some bonus.

I think the non-media target is a bit of a disincentive for people to go for the tiered route, but it probably shows that Amazon want affiliates to promote them as more than just a book retailer.
