Does anyone remember the Dotmobiles incident, I like I am sure many other affiliates never got paid, despite promises etc. Anyway I was reading the Radio Times and to my amazment I saw a full page advert, for Dotmobiles! I love the way they don't pay their affiliates but splash out on such promotion, I have to say I find this totally unacceptable .

By the way I am talking about nest weeks issue, nothing wrong with a bit of forward planning when it comes to TV!

Bearing in mind that advertising in National Magazines is done mainly 'on account' I wouldn't be certain that Radio Times have been paid any money for the ad yet either....

I have no knowledge of this particular program but it rings an all familiar bell. Smells of the kind of company that hides behind men in suits who use the small print to get out of their obligations to pay you.

One of the big risks in affiliate marketing is placing all your eggs in one basket. You could have a nice deal that pays you a healthy £20,000 per month but if the company goes sour on you then that kind of revenue can evaporate almost overnight. I know this has probably all been said before and sometimes people have to learn the hard way.

I remember getting burned by Driveway corporation several years ago when I was a student ( they paid per registration ), they simply closed their affiliate programme without notice and ignored their e-mails. These days I always insist on contracts and face to face meetings if possible.

If I had been shafted by said "I will pay... honest I will" con artist then I would be looking for ways to trounce him...

why don't all of ye wronged affiliates club together and buy it and build a site or divert it to another merchant and donate the proceeds to charity... , that's gotta annoy him.. lol

I would then email all his links (if he had any..which it looks like he don't lol..) from that domain and then tell them to take the links for .com down and put them up for .co.uk or delete them.

dunno if that's legal but it certainly aint ethical... but then again some people don't have morals and you have to sink to their level to make a mark sometimes..
