Amazon - are they this thick?

I gave Amazon my VAT number, before the payment was created and the report issued. On the 5th January they added the VAT number to their records but they haven't paid me the VAT:
Quote:
According to our records your VAT registration number was updated on 05/01/04. As stated in our email:

"VAT will now be added to your referral fees, this will be reflected
in the quarterly report for this payment period."

Since this information was updated in Q1 2004 VAT will be added to your referral fees for this payment period, i.e, Q1 2004.

If you have any further queries regarding your Associates Account, please do not hesitate to email associates@amazon.co.uk.
Like yeh - I have been VAT registered for a year and they don't seem to acknowledge the FACT that they need to pay me for the last quarter too!

Has anyone else had issues with them?

I applied for VAT registration in November and got my reg through towards the end of Dec. I emailed them as soon as I got it and they added it on within a week. Then the email I received indicated that I was VAT reg and had to invoice them.

If you've been reg for a year shouldn't you have been claiming VAT previously Lee? I'd email them back with your registration date and tell them that you will be invoicing them for the VAT inclusive amount. It shouldn't matter to them anyway, they aren't losing anything by paying you VAT.

Funny thing is - I put my invoice in the post yesterday and when I checked my bank account this morning, my available balance has shot up by roughly the amount I'm expecting from them (inc VAT) so why ask me to invoice if they're going to pay me anyway - they might as well apply for self invoicing like DGM and TD do.

Fraser seems to know their stuff
I told them I was VAT registered last year and they acknowledged it but now haven't paid me the VAT and when their email came through I was marked down as not being VAT registered.

Something to try and sort out this week

nah - only just started promoting them

it says they sent payment on the 16th. But not gone in yet (sometime BoS shows payments early) actually showed a payment from LoveHoney dated 19th Jan on the 16th :-)

Yes, they always seem to mess up.

Nearly every time I need to invoice them I have an issue. They seem to take ages to respond to the query and when they finally do respond, their answer is usually totally irrelevant and does not answer my original query.
