Amazon Web Services: do Amazon withhold some product data?

Do Amazon.co.uk exclude some product data from inclusion in their Web Services?

I've been testing out Amazon Web Services (the ECS service via HTTP based REST queries) and have found that a lot of the product data on the Amazon.co.uk site doesn't seem to be available in the web services.

I can query for stuff like product title, images and customer reviews with no problem, but when I query for the EditorialReview response group or detailed product specs (e.g. via the Large response group) the returned XML omits the details I requested.

I'm reasonably confident that I'm not doing anything technically wrong, so I'm guessing Amazon are withholding this information for copyright reasons or to make sure affiliates have to use their own unique content on their sites.

Has anybody else had experience of this?

Just an update - I've found out more about this from a thread on the AWS forum:

It seems that, yes Amazon UK do indeed withhold a lot of details from their product feeds, supposedly for copyright reasons. (though strangely they do still make this data available for use in aStores)

Not ideal, but at least it'll mean I'll have to put more of my own unique content on my site, which should hopefully mean Google will like me more!
