Why is it that merchants looking to cull affiliates wait until close of business on a Friday to tell you?

And how do they get away with giving just seven days notice "as we will be unable to pay any commissions after this time"?

Surely 30 days would be fairer?

And why do they not have to honour the cookie period that affiliates signed up for?

    Hi Entrepreneur,

I apologise for this clerical error it is 14 days notice and the 30 day cookie period will of course be honoured for any sales however it will not be applicable for the majority of dormant publishers on the account.

Please refer to my earlier email as after investigation it appears that you must have more than one account on the program hence why you recieved the email.

I am also very open to receiving any feedback from any publishers who believe that they should remain on the program and can help to contribute to Myla's online campaign.

I can also assure you that the communication was not purposely sent out on a Friday afternoon.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions and thank you for raising your query and your feedback.

    Best regards

    Hi

Can I just say that the practice of affiliate culling is somewhat inconvenient for me, and I expect I speak for many affiliates. I am probably a member of 700+ affiliate programmes. I would rather not be accepted for a programme than be accepted for a programme which may do a cull. I think affiliates should be warned beforehand that a particular merchant is one that may decide to do a cull. We do our best to promote merchants, but if we are running large sites, then we can't always be guaranteeing sales for every merchant. The problem with the cull is that any links we have created, we then have to go to the trouble of removing, and this takes time, let's say 20 minutes. So, we have to do 20 minutes work for zero return.

What is the problem with retaining affiliates making low sales, surely it's just a record in a database?

I just want to put across the affiliates perspective for the cull scenario. Which other affiliates feel the same way?

    Rgds
