A few months ago we made some important system enhancements to increase the performance of our tools that use LinkShare Web Services. These changes required us to update the URLs that are used in various LinkShare tools including:

    Coupon Web Service
    Merchandiser Query Tool
    Targeted Merchandiser API
    Automated Link Generator (Deep Links)
    Advertiser Search API
    RSS Feeds
WordPress Plugins (Simply select the update feature within the administration dashboard of your Word Press software).

If you are using these services or you created custom applications that use these services, please update your URLs accordingly. All old URLs will be retired on August 12, 2011.

To determine if you are using the correct URL or to find updated Implementation Guidelines check out this article in the LinkShare Publisher Help Center.

If you are not using these tools yet, now is a great time to start exploring them as we optimize these features for enhanced performance. LinkShare Web Services can help you find, get and distribute links without logging into the Publisher dashboard and can be used within your custom applications.

    Sincerely,

    Adam Weiss
    Vice President, Network Development
Does this mean we have to update the way we get links, or does it means the 1000's of deep links that we have all created need to be amended as they will be deleted in less than 2 weeks?

Also I use the Firefox plugin so will that be updated?

Can we have some confirmation please?

    Thanks.
    Andrew.

    Hi Andrew,

The good news is that no you do not have to change every link that you have created through Linkshare. The change is at the destination URL so if you are using one of the tools then wherever you have the referencing URL in the script you will need to update that.

With regards to the Firefox plug in i am awaiting a response from our Tech team and will reply to you as soon as i hear back.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions

    Regards

That's a relief - thanks for the prompt reply.

An update on the Firefox plugin would be great as it's so easy to use.

    Hi Andrew,

I have spoken to the US teach team and the Firefox plugin is not affected by this change so no update needed for that tool.

we have updated the help center information (please find the link below)

LinkShare Publisher Help Center :: August 2011 >> Action Required: Web Service URL Updates

If you have any other questions please feel free to contact me.
