Can anyone help me on the pros and cons of linkshare? I have a new website - currently advert free. Why are they asking me for my bank details at this point? Surely I need to approve links from and too other sites?

Hi

I'd be happy to have a conversation with you tmw about LinkShare. My name is Andy, i look after the UK network in terms of affiliates at least (not quite the boss yet ).

We ask for bank details so we can pay you commission if you drive sales; you can also plug in default sort codes and acccount numbers; but dont expect to be paid until you change them. i.e. sort code 333333 works fine. likewise with account, VAT.

Pros - well there are lots of them, but i am biased. great merchants, great account managers, experience and history (we're the oldest and biggest in the world, just quite new in the UK). Oh and me, i've been around a while, and would hopefully be able to make your loads of money like a number of other affiliates over the years at various companies.

Cons - depends on your point of view and the type of site you own. if you partake in practices we deem unethical or against T&Cs we'll kick you off.
