I've just set up a new site that contians a directory of affiliate companies and I will be adding more content soon, eg DVDs, mobile phones, ringtones, etc...

Does anyone have any advice for me to get started promoting the site on search engines and generating traffic?

    Thanks

good sites are easy to promote.

lose the frames, they wont do anything for your search engine rankings use SSI includes, PHP includes or something similar.

Unless you have a lot of money to throw into online advertising I think you might struggle, no unique content as far as I can see just lists of merchants, short descriptions and banners.

I entered and went straight to Entertainemnt > Film > DVD (top of all the categories) and under Mailbox Movies the description reads:

"Mailbox Movies Ltd, are the UK’s leading online DVD rental company. We offer 25% Commission on sales and £1.25 per free trial to Affiliate Window affiliates. Our site offers our subscribers an immersive, informative and user-friendly experience, as well a"

Why does it go on about affiliates? Shouldn't you be saying what they do and what they sell? And at the end, "as well a...." a what?

Free promotion is the best kind, and search engines are best for that. With your site as it is I don't think your going to get much from the search engines.

But then again if your a millionaire and are going to throw money into advertising all over the place, pleased to meet you and im available for work

Welcome to the forum, loads to be learnt here. Best of look with the site.

You're going to need at least some local content and some wicked search engine optimisation unless you're planning to pay for all your advertising. Good luck with the site.

Lol I loaded the site, and went wtf it got to do with anything you mentioned all I can see is "ringtones"..

Took me a moment to realise its cos' your site dont work in Mozilla.

Test your site in a few browsers m8, and save the frames for your pictures at home.
