Did you see the ads on buses that said "Career women make bad mothers"
OAA axes controversial outdoor ad - Brand Republic News - Brand Republic
It is part of Britian Thinks' campaign to promote the power of outdoor advertising
The OAA axed all the ads

It was designed by Beta and the founder said:"The campaign was designed to start a debate about the issue rather than criticise career women, which would clearly be wholly inappropriate and utterly ridiculous.
"You only have to look at the content on the Britain Thinks website to understand that we are trying to build a picture about what people in Britain think about some of the most important issues in an election year."

I understand what they were getting at, that they are stating a debate and all that but a line like that angers me!!!
Or maybe doing it, and getting it axed was their aim because they have started the debate already and people have noticed and they are talking about the nerve of the company to do that etc.

    What do you think?

Not all Career women are bad mothers, if any. yes there is always going to be one or two bad mothers, we arent all born to carry the responsibility, but it gives them no right to make statements like that.

Some of us have no choice. I mean if youre a single mom, HOW are you going to look after your kids if youre not working? And even if youre married, sometimes two incomes are better, especially in these times.

I cant fathom why theyd put something like that up. did they even begin to realise how badly it can get out of control?

You know, I don't think they even care. They've removed all the ads and their name is on the map. I know people who can multi-task motherhood and their jobs so well that it is an inspiration to me. And obviously when you are a mother you can't work until 8pm every night. But that is why it the ideal to have children in a marriage or a committed relationship where your husband takes half of the responsibilty and you guys help each other out. My mother worked from 7am to 4pm until she got a boss you gave her slack and let her leave at 2pm. By then I was already 16 but I think she was and is a wonderful mother.

precisely. we can do wotever a man can do. we just multitask better (jokes). Its just not fair to think us mums cant do a proper job if were not at home 24/7. I work 8 hours a day, and I still get to work with my kids when they have homework, I spend time with them and even get to play with them. while i was even working i had already prepared my youngest for school to the point that when she finally got to school she was bored with grade r. Her English grammar, spelling and reading is at the same level as most kids in grade 7 if not better. and My eldest is a maths and science genius. ( ok proud mom moment ).

I think they need to review how they got that information, only looking at the negative isnt the way to make an assumption or statement as they have. Plus the era of a woman staying home to be a mom is long gone and over. we dont have to do that anymore if we dont want to.
