So, the Budget is out and the Chancellor suggests no job cuts in the public sector; however, £11bn efficiency savings will be made.

Savings are set to be implemented through measures like switching off lights in buildings and making other office related costs in addition to trimming marketing budgets. This is a tragic for marketing agencies affiliated with the Government as the gov had one of the largest marketing budgets last year!!!

Like the Daily Mail, I too wonder if this is just to keep staff in the public sector happy until the elections after which job cuts will be implemented.

How else do the government plan to deal with their £167billion of debt? I really do hope it doesn’t come to it, but it will be truly annoying if all the Budget is, is a tactic to lie and butter-up innocent people.

Further more huge savings, according to the chancellor will be made through relocating some 15,000 civil servants out of London…and £630million will be saved by improving IT systems.

Not even the Treasury spokesman Vince Cable believes that The Department of Health is able to save £555million in costs, which they plan to do through reducing sick absence. If you are sick, you are sick, how do they plan to prevent nurses and doctors from getting sick, control their diets and give them regular shots…

What are your feelings about the budget on the public sector? Do you really believe the cuts the gov is suggesting are feasible and that front-line jobs will be spared in the process? And what does it mean for the rest of the advertising industry if the government makes cuts. In the recovery one should think that marketing budgets needs to be increased NOT trimmed again!!!

My general view on the Government's plans to maintain employment levels are that its focus on sectors like banking, finance, the digital economy, high technology, biotechnology etc and seemingly less focus on saving manufacturing industry means that it's going to be difficult for them to meet their targets. I heard the Prime Minister talking about electric vehicle technology to save jobs in the Midlands, but having taken an interest in high technology companies I know how difficult it can be to bring these technologies to market and I think it's a bit unfair on the average factor worker to have their hopes pinned on it.

Also, I think that if affiliate marketers want to try and help the UK economy, then if they considered expanding in to other European markets, that would be good for the UK's balance of payments.

By 2013 they are planning to build electric cars in the north east. They will subsidise the companies to come to the area and subsidise the public buying them.

They are desperate to keep house prices high despite them being the root of the problem (All that bank debt went on something)

Part of the spend is money "moved from elsewhere" which is a cut somewhere ...

Whoever gets control of Gordon's mess after the election will have some horrible choices to make.

We need to be able to export something from the UK. Services don't cut it as these just end up being outsourced more cheaply.
But it's got to be sensible and sustainable. Paying someone to employ people to build electric cars which then have to be sold with a masisve subsidy will not be sustainable.

To be honest, I just wish for the elections to be done with so we can see what will really happen and what will be reinforced and which areas will see investment and which won't. I agree with you guys, it isn't fair to get some industries' hopes up just to shatter it.
I'm fed-up with half-truths and comforting words from Goverment, I want to hear the truth and see it implemented!!!
