Well seeing a decline in jobs these days is not a good thing for me as I now stand in a position not knowing if by the end of April or May if i will have a job due to the recession going on, this has me worried but iv still got hope that things will pick up and look better over the coming months even when I see things like the article mentioned below.

So im reading on The times online that the demand for new staff fell last month again, this according to Britain’s biggest recruitment website, saying that they fear that there will be a further jump in unemployment.

Reed have put together figure that reversed a slow but steady rise in jobs recorded since the start of the year. Its job index fell from 105 to 102 in March, this still higher, however, than the figure of 100 for December.

Generally the word is that across the board, employers have become more cautious about commiting to new recruitment, and people seem to be cutting back on staff all round.

The figures from Reed’s latest survey are likely to increase worries that unemployment, which has stabilised at about 2.45 million in recent months, could rise again and economists have predicted that unemployment could rise as much as 2.8 million this year.

Does not sound promising people, this recession news has been round for long now and one gets kinda immune to it all until you are faced with it yourself then it really hits home...

It Doesnt look good at all. I was reading a forum this morning that said things were looking up...... and now this. Im starting to wonder if things will turn around. Do you think that after the elections things might go steadily back to where it was before the recession, or do you think it would worsen

Wasn't it originally a 0.1% increase in economic growth that got us out of recession technically? (In the quarter up to Christmas, the most spendaholic time of year)
Ok it's been seasonally adjusted since to something slightly more positive (But remember salt is a seasoning)

I wouldn't believe a single figure this govt gives out. They hide "below market value" sales figures from the land registry by excluding anything that is a repo/low price etc) to fiddle the HPI.
They fiddle jobless figures by moving people onto the hands of a charity that "helps people write CVs and apply for jobs" - erm basically the job centre but money is a different pot so they are taken off unemployment figures.
They have drip fed the economy by encouraging the sale of new cars with their scrappage scheme - now resulting in a dying secondhand car industry as all the stock it needs is on a runway sat waiting to be dismantled.
They've given the banks a trillion-billion-zillion to get them lending again - which hasn't worked - so they're introducing a "adjudicator" who no doubt will force the banks to lend to poor risk against their will.

They have wiped the face of the debt mountain but have yet to start dismantling it.Gordonomics has encouraged the shopoholics to spend and now encourages the savers to do likewise. Inflation is now higher than any standard ISA or IA savings account which now technically means you lose money by keeping it.

Whoever gets in on May 6th has such a gargantuan problem to try and sort out that it might take them 5 full years just to make a tiny dint on it.

The uk's growth has been entirely based on debt - and that's really going to hurt being sorted out.

WOW. Thanks for that info. it seems that whoever gets in will be bald in a few months from sorting it all out. Unless one of them is a supporter of gordonomics, as you called it then it might not improve at all.

Dammit, who do you think should win the elections? and as you said looks like Gordon has a mountain of debt to get rid of, what was the point of lending all that money in the first place? does not seem too wise considering they should have thought that it would all have to go back some way or another and now that problem stares them directly in the face.

If vat keeps rising or being increased this too will add to the stress on the already crippled economy as generally people just can afford to live as it is these days, the future looks bleak and to think our government bodies the ones we rely on to keep the country going are the ones responsible for it all ... how sad

I think there's only a handful of MPs fit to still be in office. The rest are greedy expense grabbing demons who should have all been thrown out. As it is standing down at the election gets them handsome payoffs.

I don't know what the answer is - perhaps a whole fresh new lot every 5 years so they can't get too comfortable.

Could be a good idea that, should make it mandatory that no one stays in longer than the 5 years then they need to be replaced by a fresh face with new ideas, at least if the person voted in is not working out we would know someone else would replace him eventually right?

Definately. there i agree with you and mogga. I think it might be extremely beneficial. I mean theyd HAVE to do some good instead of making empty promises. Theyd have to focus on key issues like Jobs, Health etc. and if they dont.... well then they are replaced with someone that can.
