Hi all

I just wondered if there is any software to automatically find the rankings of your website for you across the search engines?

There is.... but since that use is against the ToS of every SE, I'd not really recommend it. Google and Yahoo make APIs available that I'm fairly sure allow that sort of use. There are online tools using API tokens that can perform these queries, and not get your IP banned. Using one of those would be a much better idea

without wanting to get sued .... I wouldn't use it.

I prefer to look at my logs and see where I am from that.

I believe if you don't check too often, it's OK to use other tools. Personally I don't check more than once a day and usually much less frequently than that.

Probably... but it would be very inconvenient to be banned from accessing Google / Yahoo / MSN. The API tools are by far the best idea if you want to go that way, but getvisibles idea is the best.

Remember, ranking do not necessarily equal traffic. Log data is the best

I think it is ok to use tools like web positions gold now - the whole 'Google Bowling' thing meant that Google had to give a slightly less harsh approach to people abusing positioning software, because it was possible just to run 100 reports on one of your competitors and get them banned.

They don't ban the target sites they ban the querying IPs. You'll find you won't be allowed to use Google etc any more
