You will be really amazed to see what AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript And XML) can do for you! I have seen it and plan to use it strategically on many of the webistes I currently manage and the websites that I will launch in the future. (PS: already implemented on one of the websites).

AJAX can be simply explained as many web pages converging into just one page. However, I would strongly recommend that you do not take the literal meaning and try to make your website a single page website - it will definitely prove to be a "killer" for all your search marketing activities.

Use AJAX tactfully to improve your product showcase, to offer more functionalities to your users - such as find product by price, by specific attributes, zooming and panning of displayed products etc. without causing the problem of content duplication! That's great news for Online Retailers! (PS: my implementation on one of the dynamic sites I manage helped me reduce more than 50 duplicate pages for each product - majorly boosting my SEO efforts, and giving my users a better experience)

    Go Web 2.0 now!

We've used Ajax for the navigation for our new site which I made live about 10 minutes ago (at last I can get some sleep) makes it much more better that the page doesn't have to refresh as you move through pagination and also when you click the "show me everything link" , also used thickbox for viewing of more detailed pictures which is pretty slick (well I think so)

I've seen some interesting uses of Ajax including dragging and dropping items to basket but like with any new thing I think it would take a while for a cutomer to get used to.

Yeah! Thickbox is a cool tool. You are right about the about the fact that customers will take a while to get used to, consequently it is extremely important that you check the usability score of your website everytime you change its layout.

Here's a useful website (in fact it is THE USEFUL WEBSITE):

    Good luck!

    Well is it?

Don't know how to measure your website's Web 2.0 readiness.

Well I too did not, until I came across this website:
