Ive spent most of today going through loads (not all by a long way) of pages and de-activating quite a few duplicate and spammy pages, then a couple of hours later what do i see..... someone has created about 10 more pages (without page descriptions) and all duplicates of each other but with diferent titles!!!

I've now had to waste more time de-activating them.

From now on any page which breaks any of our rules will be completely deleted (not just de-activated) and no refunds will be given for that deleted page.

The above will be added to our terms and conditions tomorrow.

Would it not be possible to only approve a new page once the content has been added? Then if someone creates a spammy or duplicate page it doesn't get approved.

You can always transfer your unwanted pages to 'recycle' then anyone can login view the stats and take what ever they want.

username 'recycle'
password 'recycle'

that way i can see what people do not want then i know its safe to delete the ones i dont think are worth keeping.

It would be possible with some coding changes and it would be a better way of doing things, we realised this a while back which is why we changed our other site Latest Offers, Products and Reviews (page 1) to work that way when it was redesigned

Thanks. Its not the fact that I don't want anyone to use the the folder, but I would want it to be their own content. I really thought I was deleting them. I will send them to pagerank10 in the future.

Well, ive created a username 'delete' so if anyone wants to delete a page, transfer them to delete then ill know which ones are to be deleted.

Any page transfered to 'delete' will be deleted and will never be transfered or used by us.

Ill add this new info to the 'my account' page

Would it be an idea to stop all new people from opening accounts and delete anyone spaming around straight away?..... That way your eventually left with people like me who want a long term business relationship and to create original decent pages to promote their businesses. You might make less money but atleast you wont be looking over your shoulder for the next Google shuffle........

Its the spammers who runined pagerank10 in the first place so its no hardship if you get rid of them and stop them returning.

Why dont you start appointing moderators to help you out vetting new accounts and keeping an eye on spam etc etc?.... Id certainly help you out vetting new accounts and stopping spam.

Somehow we have to get P10 back where it belongs before I lose my hair :cry

Well to tell the truth the drive by spammers were stopped as soon as we stopped giving away free trials, we do get the odd new spammer but they are dealt with pretty much straight away as they only try one page.

The problem at the moment is the people who start off creating good pages.. (the people from this forum), those pages do well so then they decide to create more around the same topic hoping for them all to do well, but they run out of things to write about so duplicate sections of the original and just change a few words.

I think the best thing to do is pre-moderate the pages like was suggested before.

I know that between us we could get the site back, but getting everyone to work together on this is near on impossible as people cant even be bothered to update their page descriptions and titles.

Anyway to get the site back this is what is needed...

1 - Complete site redesign to make it more visitor friendly (this has been done!)
2 - Everyone needs to update their page titles and page descriptions.
3 - Everyone needs to put as many links from relevant sites to each of their own and other pages.
4 - Everyone needs to take a good look at their own page and remove or alter anything which is even slightly spammy.
5 - When the site is 100% spam free ill then contact google via webmaster tools.
6 - Everyone needs to email google to say how much the site deserves to be high ranking like it once was (one email from me will do nothing) but 600 emails from different people will certainly have an effect.

If the site comes back ill reward everyone involved with a fair amount of free credits.

Yes that is certainly something we are going to do, but it needs to be coded.

We also had plans to code a new report system to act more like a paypal dispute but make it public for any to view and comment on.

But google did its stuff before we got round to it, we had to then spend all our time going through and de-activating spammy pages and redesigning and re-coding the site.
