v.weird traffic advice please!

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone can shed some light on some weird traffic im getting, and i mean tons of traffic over the last 2months.

I'm not complaining, as my rev has gone sky high just wonder why and how :tup

my site is luckydevils.co.uk

My logs show the following refering sites:

immobiliereparis.com/Acheter/
immobiliereparis.com/Maison/
immobiliereparis.com/Bien/

This one has many different folders ref' to me, yet the site doenst have any links to me and is not anything about gambling?

ultimateperformance.dk/images/product/tmp/43/644.htm
mm.pl/~tomi/thumbs/tmp/57/67.htm

These two are sending the most, yet I cannot seem to find the page let alone the links?

Any idea what or why this is happening, if it was just traffic I wouldnt think much but its highly converting traffic!

A further look into my logs shows tons of these weird temp file sites sending the bulk of the traffic:

Also the type of hits seem weird, a hight % are:

Code 405 - Method Not Allowed

Could this be a weird hacking attempt thats also sending genuine traffic :sneaky

Sorry I am no help as I have no idea what the answer is, would love to know as Ive never seen that before....

Its a hacking attempt. Trying to open a socket connections.... dunno really but id ban the IP addresses from accessing your website for a while

The IP address will tell you a lot.

Sometimes, search engines deliberately request pages that shouldn't be there to see how your site responds.. if it automatically generates pages when requested then it might mark you down as spammy.. if you generate a 404 then you'll be fine. From memory I think that Yahoo! does this a lot.

Potentially this could just be log file spam. Bots that hit your website making it look that a lot of traffic from a specific domain is being sent your way.

It makes it more likely that you would link out to such a domain or at least visit it and have a look around meaning more traffic for them if they are doing it to 100,000 websites a day....

We get a lot of this which is easy to spot and ignore. Of course it might be somehthing else though, just a thought.
