Why would you think it's a con??
There are affiliate banners everywhere you probably just haven't noticed. Here's one of my sites: Voucher Codes | Promotion Codes | Summer Sales Guide that has a good few banners.
Hi, can anyone show me an example of what a website looks like that has affiliate banners on them. I asked firebox but they just showed me a site that looks nothing like the affiliate banners they show in Afilliatefuture.co.uk - fill ate future Resources and Information.
Is the affiliate program just a big con!

you could probably just scroll up after reading this thread.
Thanks for that. You have a nice website. Did you design it yourself? Mine is Playing Cards Only - Buy from our collection of playing cards / card decks
Thanks again.
The revolution magazine I believe?
Going one stage further with your banner ads there's a rotator plugin that'll fit in nicely in div class headerright on that theme...
Just put this in the classget the plugin from WPAds theSandbox and manage all your 468 banners from inside wp-admin. It even gives you options to give different banners different priorities over others.HTML Code:<?php wpads('header'); ?>
Just wrote a great reply to this and the forum update deleted it. Although its probably a good thing that I've had some time to calm down.
I would like to point out to anyone reading this that in no way is the Firebox affiliate program a con! :scared
John- I sent you a number of e-mails yesterday trying to help you out. The site url you provided me with was completely different from the one you seem to want to use the banners on. Based on this minimal information, I sent you an example of an affiliate site based on product listings, which is what I thought you wanted to do. I apologise if this in some way confused you. However publicly slating a company without first doing some basic research is generally considered to be bad business practice.
I am very happy to help out newbies with questions. But I really don't have the time to explain affiliate marketing from absolute scratch when a bit of time spent somewhere like this forum would make it clear. I also can't help you if you don't give me enough information- vague one sentence e-mails aren't enough. Affiliate Managers aren't psychic (unfortunately).
If you let me know the size of banner you are looking for I can suggest some ideas.
Rant over... thanks to everyone else for helping out, much appreciated.

a con?
chuckle
I'd say Firebox are pretty much the first gadget merchant that any affiliate would look towards to promote on their site.
They've got fantastic conversion rates, great products, a fantastic site and a brilliant online marketing manager - Naomi herself.
In fact, I'd hire Naomi if I could afford her!
Do you have products for review on my chocolate reviews or Easter eggs blog?s PM me.
