All good stuff - thanks for that. I would add a word of caution regarding the forums idea. As an owner of one of the largest scuba forums in the world, we get 'spammed' alot by people joining up and posting one ridiculous advert. The thread stays in existance for approximately 30 secs before being removed and the user binned.

HOWEVER, what has happened in the community over the 6 years it has been running is that the community itself is starting to self police and they do not take kindly to people who join up with the willfull intent of advertising their websites and wares - and they react accordingly. It got so bad that one of the UK's largest dive shops, who was sending out spam newsletters to people who has requested their removal from any communication lists, ended up on the receiving end of a protest at the Birmingham Dive Show in front of the entire diving community, with over 70 of my members silently walking past their stand and placing a tin of spam on it

By all means use communties to promote however ensure that you are adding genuine benefits and then people will be alot ore likely to use you.

Yea right!!! The best are social communities, bookmarking and video promotions. These bring the highest amount of traffic and leads.

I don’t know about the traffic exchange method. How much it is fruitful. I received lots of email from traffic exchange site behalf of other sites but don’t have applied this yet. beside this the rest of the point are quite helpful.

SEO Tactics That Really Works

1. Get links from related but non competitive sites
2. Make sure anchor text contains your target keywords
3. Get links from high PR sites and from high PR Pages
4. Get links from directories and from non directories
5. Get one way links as much possible and two way links as well
6. Don’t over optimize your links
7. Find authority sites in your niche and get links from them also
8. Get links from various IP Addresses
9. Get links to your home page to other pages as well(deep linking)
10. Get permanent links as much as possible
11. Think about users perspective than search engines
12. Distribute an online press release about your site
13. Get links from non bad neighborhood.
14. Find a less competitive keyword

Exchanging links does not work so well anymore, as the search engines tend to "cancel out" the two sites involved. Better to get one way links through articles, USFreeAds.com postings, Squidoo, etc.

Is it best to spread articles around a lot of article sites, or just focus on say, the Top 5? Right now I submit to about 20 article sites, but it takes a long time, and I'm not sure how much good I'm really doing.

i need some of your expertise i have just launched a site and i have got a page rank of 1 which i think is good considering ive not had time to work on the site and its been up for arouns 5/6 months

all i have done is make youtube videos ad put my link on the video or on the description

even though some of the videos are just songs, they get more views and i get traffic but obv. its not targeted........

what about directory submissions and free directory submissions, i cant see how that will increase traffic - how many people use directory submissions?? every 1 just goes straight to google....
