We gather data on who is adding the codes, and this is also stored in the database, this data is then accessible to the merchants and networks, the merchants and networks then know who to contact for what ever reason.

We are not just building a codes distibution network we are also working on building a community, at the moment non of the publishers know who is adding codes, logos, merchants etc.. but shortly publishers will know who has added what and will be able to contact each other through the icodes system, also start to build trust and understanding with each other.... (which is what affiliate marketing is also starting to lose)

When merchants learn to trust the icodes community more they will then be more likely to join in and hopefully offer icodes users exclusive deals.

Also giving the ability for merchants to add their own codes and special offers means they could add offers which only last 24 hours, as they will know whatever they add will be live on sites instantly, then removed exactly when the merchant choses

... how about merchants being able to offer codes / promotions at certain hours of the day to boost trade!, thats only possible with our system...because its live and instant.

Yes if your using our live feed on your site or have an icodes hosted site (what times on friday do you want the promotions to start and end?)

This is why we also include the time as well as the dates for codes to be active.

So how do I as a user of your system automate the load up. I have lots of codes that are useful to your system and have paid you to be a member

You wont work with us, come to meet the networks, but you expect them to use your system on your terms.

You have a nice system stop trying to reinvent the wheel by yourself.

Not sure if i fully understood the question so ive answered it a couple of ways :-)

If you are wanting to add codes yourself you can then do this via your admin area, most publishers do this already although we do not give the facility for a single publisher to bulk upload codes because this is not needed. if we decide it is needed we will make this a possibility.

The merchants will be the ones who decide on what times the offers will start and end, then this will automatically show in the feeds and on the icodes hosted sites.

We already have the technology to do this, its just a matter of implementing it in the mechant and networks admins.

Obviusly merchants or networks can already add codes which last hours on whatever days which will go live on all sites instantly, but if they want re-occuring offers to be switched on / off automatically this is just a matter of upgrading the coding.

This facility will not just be for codes, it will also be for special offers or whatever messages they want to appear on affiliate websites, also if they are experiancing problems with their sites they can also inform visitors this also via affiliate websites.

Regarding meetings with networks... I've already done this and cannot really see a way it would be beneficial at this point.

The wheel is already perfect, but the way merchants work with affiliates is not... im trying to give affiliates more time to promote and less time spent gathering the data, im also trying to give merchants the ability to promote exactly what they want and when they want.

I don't want to do this on my own, but given the lack of support i do get makes me believe i dont have any options.... there is nothing i would like more than to have a group of affiliates / programmers / networks to help us out, but in the real world thats just too insecure.

Simple issue Lee is the merchants and networks are not interested in sorting out the data and logging into your system or our system and loading them. Proof is look at the data quality at present its rubbish. You won't persuade over 2000 merchants to see it as a priority.

If you want to use our codes then create an account on promotions.co.uk in anybody's name, don't even tell me. Then automate the upload.

Then focus on builidng icodes as a brilliant system and marketing it to the world. I will then be delighted.

Give it a few more months to see what we come up with for the merchants, and im sure we wont need to persuade anybody.

The codes are already being added without any input from me whatsoever, but i agree the descriptions need sorting out, but im sure this will improve now its been pointed out.

You can build the best system in the world the merchants wont play ball. We have been working with them for years and getting rationalised data feeds is a problem and still is.

Discount codes are way down the list on their agenda of things to fix. You need to work with what you have.

Maybe so, we will have to wait and see.

If discount codes are way down the list on their agenda, then we will just find out whats way up in their list and include that also.

They want to do nothing and get sales, that is how most merchants treat most affiliates unfortunately.......fix that one and cause them no hassle.

Personally, I feel it would be great if icodes could intergrate network XML files. Whilst AF are the only network to offer this functionality the UK at the moment I am sure that others will follow us in doing so and it makes for a much more robust solution.

Tis the way forward and similar to what lots of networks do in the US..

But I still see the issue that the raw data being entered can be rubbish and always will be. Simply the job at the merchants end will be past to a junior who really does not want to do it, hence it will always need manual intervention by the code controllers.

Easy solution then, how about iCodes also became an affiliate network? Problem solved :tup , im sure we couldn't do a worse job than some networks (mentioning no names)

hmmm, perhaps I am dreaming now... probably caused by seeing the words AF and Robust were in the same post!!!!! (someone wake me up)

I think your missing the point, you don't have to login and update all the codes, you can just login to remove an incorrect code which will save you the time from tracking down and emailing a big percentage of discount code users.
