    Hi everyone,

I have converted my ecommerce website into an affiliate site and I thought that I would just have a buy normally where it is which when clicked would lead to the merchant.

Is this good pratice or would you think WTF after you clicked on 'buy' and it took you to another site?

    Cheers

    Paresh

    Thanks Doug,

I should have pointed out what I currently have here

    and the category list here

I could change the category lisitng to 'more info' and then link to my detailed description page and then on my detailed page?

I am thinking that getting them to the detailed product description page will give them more infromation and so get them interested. Then when they click buy - they would be ready to buy and so would go to the merchants site.

    Cheers

lol!! so you would just leave the detailed description page with a buy now button and then let them be suprised when they click and go to the merchant sites?

This subject is great because when you have a banner people know that it's an advert so it's going to go to site in question in the ad but with something like my site - it looks like a normal ecommerce site.

    Hi Thanks for the replies.

What would make it better then?

Would I say 'Buy from our partner now'?

Make it more obvious I am an 'information site'?

    Cheers

    Here's a quick suggestion:

    • on your description page, change 'Our Price: £xx.xx' to 'Best Available Price: xx.xx at _Merchant_Name_' (merchant name should be a link).
    • Underneath the price, change your button to 'Buy this Product at the Best Available Price'.

If you have the time & the inclination though, best to test it with the Website Optimizer.

That is something you might give away with it. It's a risk that you should wallow on. If I were a visitor on your site, I would just click on the BUY button though - people nowadays are too lazy
