Indexed then gone

Has anyone had this before - indexed by Google on Thursday/Friday (home page only), then Sunday gone (ie nothing returned on a site: search). All I've done is answered 3 questions on forums and left the link - hardly black hat.

yep this is common and has happened to me on the last 4-5 sites I have done this month

Thanks for that, I've known it to happen before where the site moves right down but not disappearing altogether.

I have had the same experience and the site re-appeared about 1 week later.

Is the domain/site brand new?

If yes is your site targetting a highly competative industry?

If yes, then your site has probably been sandboxed....

That being said, it might just have been the initial spurt of your site and its just dropped off the search results already...

Thanks for the replies - last night the 'contact us' page appeared in the index but not the homepage, today they're both in plus another one, so I guess it's one of the oddities of Google when it's indexing a new site.
Looking OK now anyway...

I've had the same thing with Google and Yahoo.

Problem is mine went 2 weeks ago and hasn't come back!! :scared

It can happen several times in the first few months. As most have said, it's very common and the worst thing you can do is panic and make loads of changes.
