I'm looking to join an affiliate programme as a merchant in the finance sector and was wondering who would be the best one to join and would really appreciate some feedback from affiliates as to what they look for when they join a programme, so that I can see which one is the best. I have thought about setting up my own so at least the 30% charge that they all seem to charge can be passed on to the affiliates instead of them. I have looked at a couple of the smaller affiliate networks but have come across some disturbing news about people who are involved - so I think the large ones might be the best - Hopefully someone out there might point me in the right direction

I see enquiries like this often and also get asked by my subscribers.

I've tried to get UK based networks to list on my site but maybe it's my Canadian accent they don't get

I have not gotten much of a response from UK based affiliate networks, from my offer to them to list their services on my site.

Could it be due to them not having a merchant referral program? Makes you wonder why not.

At the moment I would recommend European or global affiliate networks over UK specific. It depends on your market though and budget too.

More international ones are Zanox and CJ. Linkshare is coming to Europe as well.

I'm not sure if Shareasale is in Europe yet.

Affiliate marketing is big in North America so you might want to consider these options. Hope that helps.

    Regards,
    Peter

One of my finance clients has programmes on 3 networks, Buy At, DGM and OMG. Although OMG are positioned as more of a finance orientated network, they perform second best. DGM is the better one by quite a way in this instance.
It could be down to a particular account manager or maybe DGM just have a couple of good performing affiliates signed up to this particular programme.

For non finance related I've used DGM, Affiliate Future and Affiliate Window. AW has performed better generally but it's easier to get good exposure to affiliates on AF if you post regular news items so no harm in using both of them

Hi i run a personal injury company and i am thinking of joining an affiliate site. I am a little unsure about this method of advertising as a couple of the companys i have spoken to want a lot of cash upfront and there is no guarantee that this will work

Can anyone recomend a good network to try for this sector. Initially i would prefer to work with a free network to see if i get any results.

    Thanks

Of course, all depends on what you're promoting, the management and promotion of your program.

I would recommend Google Affiliate Network.

Am located in the US and have been following this thread. Run 19 programs on all the top networks here and 9 are in-house. My favorite is Google Affiliate Network formerly Performics and they have gone a long way to clean up their affiliates.

The most ethical programs are Shareasale, AvantLink and Buy.at. There is a huge fervor on a loyalty affiliate OneCause owned by LinkShare's parent company Rakuten. Might finally see something done to stop the stealing of affiliate commissions.
