Hi Jason

Slightly off your line of thinking but Viking at home are running a good promotion on Webgains related to the devil wears Prada. Customers shopping at Viking at home can earn money off vouchers, redeemable at many leading High Street Retailers and you can earn well for referring them once they make a transaction.

There's a post here

Or you can Visit the Prada page for detail here.

I have loaded up a banner and text link specifically for the promotion if you think it will be for you. I would certainly reccommend it in the run up to Christmas - well of course I would

Wishing you well!

Thanks, but I'm looking for merchants who pay commission on gift voucher sales... I've editted the thread title to make it clearer.

why wouldn't they pay commission? It's just another product, most include it in their feeds too, it gets added in the basket and has the normal checkout, plus they have a HUGE margin on those products
Have you come across any that don't pay commission on them?

I'm not 100% that Amazon do for example - and in previous years very little is mentioned about voucher/gift certificates as items for affiliates to promote?

I found a thread from 2004 here where Firebox had problems (not sure if this is still the case) - and replies to that thread were the usual merchants you'd expect when asked about what they pay affiliates for.

Perhaps paying on gift vouchers is carte blanche these days (as yes you'd expect it too happen), but sadly I'm too cynical to accept that what should happen will happen and would prefer clarification before creating deeplinks etc

Heya

I think our gift voucher problem has now been fixed- so we pay out when customers buy gift vouchers. I will double check for you though.

What we don't pay out on is promotional gift voucher amounts when these are used, and i have a feeling this also applies when a customer is spending a normal voucher (it uses the same mechanism). We take the voucher amount off the sale amount and then pay commission on the balance- i think this is common practice for promotional vouchers.

Hope this clears it up.
Thanks
Naomi

This is a good thread by Jason. It would be useful for affiliates to know which companies pay commission on gift vouchers.

As I wrote in my article on making money at Xmas time, I would advise affiliates to promote gift vouchers from about 19 to 25 December. Studies have shown that sales of products that need to be delivered plummet around 19 December.

Although technically most of our products are gift vouchers, we also pay commission on the monetary gift vouchers that we sell.

On Nadeem's point regarding delivery there certainly is a big drop off, although you'd be surprised at the number of people phoning on Christmas eve expecting to still receive the gift in time for Christmas! As a way of maintaining sales, once we can't send the gifts anymore we offer a temporary print voucher feature - so the customer purchases the gift, but they still have something to 'give' on the big day.
