Hey everyone,
It's the first long weekend! Check out what the Share Results team has to say about tying this in to your promotional strategies.
Major holidays offer affiliates an opportunity to roll out themed promotions and add some variety to their marketing mix. What are some innovative ways to take advantage of 2007’s first major holiday, Easter? Beyond simply adding pastel colored eggs and fluffy chicks to your website, there are several ways to use this holiday as an opportunity to increase sales.
Easter Gift Alternatives
First of all, you can introduce your audience to alternatives to the traditional Easter eggs and chocolate bunnies by proposing any number of other gifts. More and more marketing campaigns this year have been heading this way in the last few years, with campaigns for children’s games and toys being seen on television as well as the internet. Some entertaining online suggestions, particularly with your teenagers in mind (who may feel a little too grown up for an Easter-egg hunt and a chocolate bunny), include subscriptions to the popular
Real Networks Rhapsody music download service, or tickets to a concert or sporting event using a service like
Celebrity Seats.
For the younger generation, why not stick with the traditional spring icons and offer some adorable gifts like
KooKoo Bear Kids’ Duck Buddy Blanket? You can get your littlest one in on the Easter spirit by dressing her up in one of KooKoo Bear Kids’
Bunny Cuddle Coats!
Keyword Opportunities
As with any major holiday, paid search becomes a great opportunity to take advantage of seasonal surges in keyword search frequency. Throw some Easter-themed keywords into your campaign mixes and direct them to Easter-themed landing pages to benefit from this seasonal traffic. Overture suggests that some more popular Easter search terms are “Easter 2007”, “Easter eggs”, and “Easter gift”. Don’t forget to stay up to date with your merchant or network newsletters and get in touch with your affiliate managers to stay on top of the latest Easter-themed promotions and creative campaigns. They may even be able to work with you to create a custom Easter-themed promotional landing page to drive your holiday traffic to.
Holiday Marketing Checklist
This Easter, as well as any other holiday or event, it will be important to make sure you are optimizing your holiday marketing efforts in the following ways:
•Themed creatives: many of your merchants should have their holiday-themed creatives available to you months ahead of the holiday in question so you can prepare your campaigns in advance. Check with you affiliate managers to see when they’ll be made available.
•Themed content: work with your affiliate managers to optimize your holiday keyword-driven traffic. Develop holiday content or landing pages.
•Think outside the box: While Easter and other holidays are a prime opportunity to promote gifts, keep in mind that holidays offer a multitude of other opportunities and behaviors that you can capitalize on as an affiliate. A good example would be the fact that Easter often means a long weekend – take advantage of the increased travel promotions you can market at this time.
Enjoy the weekend!
