I have client who gets £0.04 revenue per click at his website, purely through non-paid organic SEO.

Is this enough to run a PPC campaign, say paying a maximum of £0.02 cost per click? Can you execute an Adwords campaign with that low a maximum cost per click?

    Hi Alerner,

If he gets 4p every time someone clicks onto his site without going any further then of course you can.

Just set the max cost per click at 1p or 2p and thats the max it will cost, you might only get very low traffic but you might get some.

And worse case scenario, no one clicks through or the ad doesnt show (perhaps too much competition),

Its not like its much time investment

This is how I do it, not because im a cheapskate but because im trying to find out how low I can go and still got the results. I found if I add loads of keywords for things, even the rubbishy ones like model numbers then set my max bid for that group of keywords really low at less than 5p then a few come through but dont cost much. As I learn more and feel more confident with my site I will start forking out more money per person just to get more through but right now I dont wanna spend a lot of money for people not to stay long or follow through ads.

I started PPC advertising many years ago with euroffice which paid 5p per click.

I did direct to merchant PPC and placed my bids at max 5p - couldn't go wrong!! every sale was profit.

Dont do it now, but cant see why it couldn't be done that way still today.

Be careful of autobid, unless your rich and each click is worth loads to you! I found out on the first day I messed around with Adwords...... £3 budget spent in minutes on 4 clicks lol lucky its a voucher, best way to learn really

    Hi Baz,

The main problem with this today (assuming that the merchants allows it) is that Google have clamped right doen on the display/destination URL match issue, and it wont be long, if your ads ever get approved, that you will be stopped.

Now obviously, there are ways around it, but Google has become super-sharp on most of the 'grey' techniques used in the past.

There are other PPC providers, however, who are not so on the ball

The honest answer is that it depends on what other people are bidding for the keywords. If there are very few others, then maybe 0.02 per click will work.

If on the other hand there is lots of competition and 0.02 per click leaves you in position 8 or lower, chances are that you'll have a campaign that gets almost no traffic, making the whole exercise a waste of time.

The only way to know for sure of course is to try it, and the only thing you are risking is your time.
