    Hi,

    We are currently helping some of our clients with PPC, and I just wondered if anyone has any tips to ensure a steady CTR?

    Thanks!

    The best way is to continuously monitor poor performing keywords and dumping them as fast as possible. Another way, is watch what your competitors ads are and see if they stay there are a week or so. If they are that means the ad copy is working. Then, try to incorporate their ideas in your new ads and split test.

    Use a process called Peal and Stick. Take the best performing keywords in an ad group and set them live within their own campaign incorporating the keyphrase. The tigher the ad group the better. What I mean here is make sure each of your ad groups has no more than 10 keywords in it, 5 is good, 1-2 is perfect.
    This process works well as it tightens up your keywords and your ad is more likely to get clicked on.
    It takes time but will save you money in the long run.

    Another tip is to create content with the best performing key phrases in the page title and repeated within the content. Only do this for your best performing keywords, your sales will increase.

    I always find that if you capitalise your words in your ads they get a better CTR.

    Add urgency to your ads, buy now, apply now, learn more. They do work!

    Always split test, have 2 ads per ad group, every 5-7 days re-write the worst performing ad, what you are looking for here is 50-50% split.

    Seriously now, constant split tests and perfectly balanced ad groups will allow you to increase the conversion rates with minimum effort.

    Hi,

    You could also put (if you have not already) {keyword:default} into the headline of your text ads.

    This will pull the keyword from the search query into the headline (link) of your ad making the ad appear more relevant to the user.

    default needs to be some generic text because if the keyword contains more characters then adwords allows the default text will kick in.

    something like {Keyword:Cheap Red Paint}

    Another thing you could do is set your keywords to broad match, leave to run and then go back into that adgroup and select see search terms and then all from the dropdown.

    This will give you a list of keywords that you could also use in your campaigns (depending on that data of course).
