    I'm not a genius... but...

I'm by far not a search engine genius, but surely this shouldn't happen??

    http://search.msn.com/results.aspx?q...yers&FORM=QBRE

That affiliate link has a nice spot at place three!!

Not sure how beneficial it would be though - awinaffid ring any bells?

It happens from time to time, even in Google I've seen it a few times.

Just one of those things and the affiliate has to enjoy it while it lasts

    Cheers

I agree with Wardy, although you'll find that the end user doesn't like clicking on it much!

Seems to be hapening for pretty much any merchant that you can think of that has a programme on Aff Win. Seems to be for a multitude of affiliates though.

A link is only a link, after all. It all depends on how far passed the ? the search engines index. The solution is for all affiliate links to contain rel="nofollow" and then this will stop happening. May kill the affiliate networks' PR though, although a link to a page that does not circulate PR is of no use to anyone.
Text links will hit product and supplier names and help to push them up the rankings.

I have had a lot of my own affiliate links appear like this for some top keywords also, but have never had any sales from it so I would agree that the end user is not keen
