The answer...ABSOLUTELY!!
Mobile phone recycling has come on in leaps and bounds in the last couple of years. With the every increasing number of contract and PAYG handset sales going through...the old handsets have to go somewhere. It used to be the bin for the broken and the back of drawer for the outdated.
Now there's another option...cash in a customers pocket (or vouchers or whatever).
And that's where these guys step in! Customers select their handsets, get sent a freepost envelope to return them in, send in the handset and get their payment...its that simple.
Envirofone.com offer customers the option of earning either cash or Argos vouchers in exchange for their old handsets. Customers even have the ability to donate their payments to charity, straight from the Envirofone site.
Commission: £3.60 per basket for new customers. £1.49 per basket for returning customers.
Cookie period: 30 days

Fone Bank pay customers in cash for their old mobiles but also include the ability to get a reduced price for any non-working handsets.

Mobile Phone Xchange pay customers in cash. Customers trade in working and non-working handsets in the same way and Mobile Phone Xchange will evaluate upon receipt. Non-working phones can still see up to 80% of the trade in value paid to the customer.

Mopay.co.uk offers the option for customers to be paid in cash or M&S vouchers. Customers can earn up to 20% extra when selecting the M&S vouchers over cash.

All of the programs above offer free postage and commissions are approved once the handsets are received from the customer.

All phones received are recorded, sorted, tested, repaired if necessary and refurbished and then exported to developing countries. These phones help bridge the digital divide, improving the local economies and also the quality of life by providing affordable, first-time modern communications for many people
