Fluctuations are usually linked to a lack of major new phone releases.

We had a drop in mobile phone sales through July and August. The Galaxy S II remained top seller throughout the summer but by July interest and demand had started to fall off a little.

If there are any seasonal changes to be noted, we tend to see a dip in July and August, particularly when the weather is good, then a boost from mid October to mid December as we approach Christmas and when the weather is bad. I expect similar trends will apply to other online sectors.

Sales have definitely recovered in September and October, with October looking like it will be the best month of the year in terms of click through traffic.

Merchants average conversion rate is down slightly this month though. This is due solely to iPhone 4S. It's generating a lot of clicks but CR started quite low, we often see this with major new phone launches. There are several theories behind this, mainly to do with inquisitive clickers, people researching online, then waiting for a better offer. Previous iPhones have shown that CR improves gradually over a few weeks.
