    Hi

In the admin area there is an option for entering a promotional code, how does this work?

To quote from the admin area...

"If you give out promotional codes to your customers, enter a short description in the box below. This will cause a new field to appear on the first stage of the order form (on secure-mobiles.com) for them to enter a code into. The value will be stored as the first affliate tracking value, which you can view from the statistics pages.

If you do not use promotional codes, please leave this box empty."

when using a promo code exactly what incentive does it give the purchaser??? can someone explain this to me.

    Many thanks

I'm only guessing , perhaps they mean you paying the purchaser ie: if you were say a cashback site ( or other Robin Hood site )and wanted to offer 1% cashback , you would enter your incentive in the box (i assume it is an incentive managed by you) . Unless it's some exclusive voucher code thing ,but would be interested too as am looking into possibility of joining .

Does anyone know for sure how this works? do you have to personally know the buyer in order to track their purchase via a promo code to give them money back? that is the only way I can see that it works. I have asked the question via email direct to e2save but I have not had a response.

    Hi UKShopsnet,

The promotional code functionality allows you to add additional tracking on the shopping cart for marketing purposes.

I.e. If you were sending out a promotional flyer that drove people to your website and you wanted to capture its success you could setup the promotional box to say "Enter Your Special Code". The customer would then enter in the code. This code will be tagged against the order allowing you to measure the campaigns performance.

All promotional box contents feed into Table View>Campiagn column within your admin account against the relevant order.

    It's a very useful tool.

Let me know if you want more info on the best ways to use this.

The problem with this kind of intelligence gathering is that most customers are not going to bother entering a promotional code without an incentive. That means the results are very skewed and so it could be argued that no intelligence is better than bad intelligence. You could easily end-up with a very successful promotion that appears to be a flop causing you to pull it.

    Hi Extremus,

Totally agree with what you are saying.

Our Campaign Creator within Marketing & Tracking allows you to create traceable deeplinks. You can create a main campaign and also pipe in upto 3 keywords. There is a wizard that allows you to easily create them, as well as full examples so you can create your own.

This is a far better tool.

Just shout if you want me to go through this is more detail.

    Cheers
