today I launched the UrMob Partner Scheme. This post is to highlight some of the features added throughout the year and announce a brand new standardised data feed of mobile offers.
UrMob is a mobile phone price comparison website and the scheme allows partners to promote mobile deals by linking to UrMob or by including the deals on their site using dynamic content units - and now via a data feed.
How You Make Money - the important bit first!
The partner scheme works slightly differently to other affiliate programs. When you join the scheme you register you IDs for the various affiliate networks promoted. From then on your IDs will be used for your visitors 80% of the time - this is based on a 365 day cookie. Because your IDs are used 80% of the time, 80% of sales will be allocated to you and you will be paid for these directly from the network. As payment is made directly to you, and you can still use your normal network reports, this greatly reduces the admin time involved for everyone and is the reason I can afford to take a smaller share than other programs.
Promotion Methods
Linking to UrMob - The simplest way to promote the scheme is by linking to
UrMob as you would any other mobile merchant.
Deal Finder - The deal finder was the first content unit created to enable you to easily add 1,000s of mobile deals to your site with one line of code. Over the year more options have been added for those that want to control how the unit is formatted - adding merchant logos, removing links to UrMob, etc (Note: your IDs would still be used if the user visited UrMob at any point in the 365 day cookie period.)
Inline Tables - The inline tables allow you to show a table of results in your existing page. There are options that allow you to control what is shown and how it is displayed.
Example showing top 10 deals for Nokia N80.
Inline Usage - Inline Usage is a companion content unit to the inline tables that allows visitors to enter details of how they will use their phone - i.e. number of minutes & texts per month. Once that is done the inline tables will show the users estimated monthly bill for each deal shown.

The Deal Database
The core of the scheme is the database of deals. This includes over
110,000 offers from over
30 merchants, all of which are updated at least daily - though most are updated multiple times a day to ensure the deals are as accurate as possible.
Data Feed
Today I'm pleased to announce the release of a standardised data feed containing details of all the deals in the UrMob database. This will allow those with the technical skills to create their own unique sites and I also hope it can be used by others with the various
product feed scripts now available.
Rather than go into detail here, the following link will take you to a page where you can see what fields and selection options are available and will let you download an example feed: -
Feed Admin.
Celebration
To celebrate the anniversary of the scheme from now until the end of April all partners - both existing and any new ones that join in the period - will have their IDs used for ALL clicks by their users.
How to Join
If you would like to join the scheme all you need to do is send me your name, email address, chosen username (up to 8 letters) and password. I will then get your set up and provide you access to the admin pages where you can confirm what merchants to join and enter your affiliate IDs for the various networks (You don't need to supply your network passwords, your sales data remains private to you as I have no need to access it.)
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me either by PM, by this
contact form or just post in this thread.
