Well, we decided to look in to this and look at the major keywords and their popularity. Of course there are some generic keywords such as 'weight loss' or 'diet pills' which get truly massive search volumes.

However, what about the more focused keywords and even the brand specific terms? The signs are that there is a great opportunity there too, check out the following:

Acai Berry Powder - 60,500 searches

The list goes on, they are just a very small selection of the keywords that are getting big searches and are directly related to Slimming.com.

The market is there, all you have to do is get your share - you dont even need a very big share such is the size and search volume you have to target.

Remember, these keywords are just suggestions to give you ideas to aid your own keyword research. If you all just target these keywords then they will become too competitive. The key to getting ahead is to find your own little gems!

How do you target these keywords?

With so many opportunities, how do you go about targeting the various keywords? Well, the way we see it is that you can group all the keywords in to one of three groups:

•Generic Weight Loss - e.g. 'Lose weight', Dieting', 'Slimming Tablets', etc
•Diet Pill Types - e.g. 'fat binders', 'appetite suppressants', 'carb blockers', etc
•Brand specific - e.g. 'Adios Tablets', 'Buy Zotrim', 'Alli Reviews', etc

Therefore to target the generic weight loss groups you can create an authority site in the weight loss niche and provide general slimming advice. Of course some of this would then flow down to the next level which is...

Diet Pill Types. To target this you can create discussions on which type of weight loss method is the most effect or the most appropriate for the surfer. You can also compare the different brands that fit in to that category and make recommendations for which is the best type of fat burner or carb blocker, etc.

Finally you have the brand traffic which is probably the most targeted you can get. These are people who are probably almost certain about the brand they wish to buy and so it is your job to create the urgency and make their almost certain decision and absolute definate and immediate decision.

Choose your opportunity now - battle is about to commence

So we are very close to launch and NOW is the time to decide how you will target your surfers. It is up to you to decide which of the above categories of keywords you will use.

You might want to target all of them and try and take surfers through from just knowing they want to lose weight all the way to knowing they want a particular type of product and even a particular brand. You might just want to focus all your effort on one group before expanding to the others at a later date.

The one thing to make sure is that you do choose and start working on it now. The sooner you get ranking for these keywords the better because once we launch more affiliates will be joining the party so this is your chance to get one step ahead.
