At Route One we have been working hard over the past six months to bring our customers a completely new website for 2010 and beyond. We have a brand new platform, dedicated servers and a back end to rival any other!

So what’s changed?


The product navigation on our new website is powered by Mercado. Mercado provides the most powerful and comprehensive (and intuitive) set of merchandising tools in the industry. Whether inputting a term into the search box or browsing the Route One site, each and every time an online customer clicks their mouse, we have the opportunity to respond by displaying products in an enticing manner and move site visitors closer to a sale. At the core, product attributes, product categories, and product details help to organize a product catalog for easy access. A powerful search engine leverages these characteristics to present online customers with the best options and compel a purchasing decision.



On the network side we have taken the opportunity to upgrade our affiliate tracking to TradeDoubler’s G2 solution giving us more accurate and robust tracking as it does not depend on 3rd party cookies and tracks sales made in session even if the user has 1st and third party cookies disabled.

We have built a new TradeDoubler V2 Product feed for you to upload to your sites. This allows us to include more information in our feed, in a more structured way.

Examples of additional fields that are now available:

• Avalibility
• Promotional Text
• Previous Price
• Shipping Cost
• Brand/Model
• Sector Specific Details


We have a huge range of online offers live on the new site, including free delivery, mix and match order builders and free t-shirts, hats and belts to give away. In addition our ‘clearance’ section is packed with reduced price items to drive up the average order value.

All this will help us to drive up conversion rates and most importantly continue to push up the Route One Affiliate EPC which has already risen this year from 7p to 14p. We accept that this is only now just approaching the industry standard but anticipate that the ECP will easily surpass the 20p mark in the run up to Christmas with all the work we have done. In short there really is no better time to start working with Route One!
