    Hi guys,

As a business Prezzybox have recently employed an analyst to look at everything we do and how it effects the business. It's very interesting!

In amongst all of this analysis we are looking at our marketing and particularly the cost/ROI of each and every one of our marketing activities - including how we use gift vouchers.

So - what are your thoughts on how we use gift vouchers? IN a nutshell, we currently provide affiliates stretch and save vouchers to a lot of affiliates on an "on going" basis.

    • Would the vouchers have more prominence/ROI if we used them more sparingly?
    • Would it be a better idea to run different types of vouchers for shorter periods with better offers?
    • What type of vouchers tend to work best for you? £ off, % off, Free Delivery?
    • Should we only allow certain affiliates to use gift vouchers? i.e. those who will offer us greater exposure?
    • Is it detrimental to offer vouchers to all affiliates that ask for them? Should we have a criteria?
    • Would we (and you) make more money/commission if we didn't provide gift vouchers at all (the logic being that we'd probably get less orders but at a higher overall price)?

    Any other thoughts?

I'd be really keen to hear both affiliates and merchants thoughts on the use of gift vouchers...

As you can tell, we've absolutely no idea what the findings of the analysis will be, but we'll keep you posted on what they are and how we plan to progress.

    Cheers,

    Zak.

My Prezzybox £5 code is my fourth most popular bettered by another £5 code, free delivery and 5%. So the offer is not too relevant. As most merchants offer free delivery over a certain spend I'd say the percentage discount should be most popular. But when they come in the form of 7% and 8% it is hard for the user to calculate the discount.
Keep the exclusives for permanent exposure and seasonal codes to freshen it up.

    Hi Ray,

    Thank you for that mate.

We're actually starting the analysis this week so will hopefully have some decent results soon. We won't do anything without talking to affiliates but I think it's a worthwhile exercise to maximise profitability/commisison for all of us.

    I'll keep ya posted.

    Zak.

    Hi Zak

Really interesting post. I've recently been trying gauge opinion toward voucher codes so it'll be interesting to see what kind of feedback you get.

    Thanks for posting

Hi Zak, I've said to you before I think a mix of discount codes is the optimum arrangement.
Long running dedicated codes - great cos code sites know they can send traffic to those landing pages and the visitors will be happy.
Shorter term generic codes changing monthly - off peak - will get you extra front page coverage on code sites as they cycle through the home page, latest code and expiring soon pages (all traffic your long running codes miss)
Product specific codes to clear stock or highlight areas on your sites visitors might not had been aware off - obvious one being VALENTINES code arriving at Valentines gifts page.
    It's all in the mix.
