Why SEMRush?
SemRush gives you insight into the organic and paid search results for any sites that you choose to look at. It’s a great way to find low cost PPC keywords that others may not be taking advantage of.
To see how SEMRush works, take any website and drop it into their search bar, and select the country for which you want the data for. In this example below, we looked at Wowcher.co.uk, and that showed us some really nice keyword sets.



As you can see, in the example above, the keywords “this is S****horpe” get nearly 10,000 searches. Looking at the Google results, it seems that this is the name of a popular news site about S****horpe. Interestingly, with that high a volume, there still ret any advertisers.
And at £0.05 estimated cost per click may be well worth trying to bid on, especially if you create a nice landing page with all the Christmas Offers in S****horpe, Holidays in S****horpe, Hotels in S****horpe etc. However, this may be considered a “brand” keyword, so worth investigating further. Looking at the Google KW tool, it seems that the search volume is underestimated, and is actually higher!
What’s even more interesting; there are more than 100 KW ideas around this phrase, any of them at “Low Competition”



Interestingly, no one is taking advantage of this KW and its many variations. Make sure you dig a bit deeper to find non brand keywords to bid on.
Now let’s try this with Wikipedia:



As you can imagine, Wikipedia ranks for hundreds of thousands of keywords, many of them non commercial. However check out this little gem:



Justin Bieber! With over half a million searches, and the estimated CPC is only £0.05! Surely that can’t be right? Looking at Google data, it seems that it is!



While the competition is very high on Justin Bieber products, such as his perfume, his jumpers, outfits, toys, posters etc, the competition on his name itself is low.
Would it be worth creating a solid landing page with all the Justin Beiber items for sale (which make great gifts for Justin Bieber fans!) and then using your free adwords voucher to see if it’s worth investing more into that strategy?
