Hi all,

If you are not already promoting the CAFOD programme now is the time. Here are some gift ideas to get you started:

School starter pack - £7

Pens, books, a uniform school fees, daily meals – this gift can provide a child with all the essentials they need to attend school. Top marks go to this gift for making a huge difference for such a little cost.

Vegetable garden + FREE fun sheet - £10

Seeds, tools and horticultural training can provide a family with a healthy, nutritious diet by giving them the chance to grow their own vegetables.

Mother and baby care - £30
Training birth attendants in pre- and post-natal care, as well as in safer delivery techniques, can give a new mum and her baby a much better chance of survival. This wonderful gift can also pay for new equipment and vaccines to give babies a much safer, healthier start in life.

Emergency kit - £15
In the immediate aftermath of natural disasters and conflict, this gift provides families who have lost almost everything with the basics they need for survival – such as cooking utensils and pots and pans – while we work with them to rebuild their lives in the long-term.

Temporary shelter - £9
When families lose their homes, an emergency shelter made of plastic sheeting and tarpaulin helps protect them from the elements and gives them a place to cook, eat and sleep together until a more permanent home is built.

Train a community health worker - £300
Many poor, rural communities lack access to even the most basic health care. This gift can equip a community health worker with vital skills – such as immunisation and the treatment of malaria and HIV and AIDS – which can undoubtedly save many lives year after year.
