OMG specialise in finance and the laws surrounding advertising for finance are pretty strict hence they set the bar a little higher than others.
I've been an active member of all the major affiliate networks for some time now. Am interesting in featuring a merchant who looks to be OMG. So I thought I'd sign up to OMG and see if the merchant was indeed on there and check details of the offer.
How wrong I was! My application to join OMG was refused by an automated email giving no details. I'm not entirely surprised not to have had a response from the email I sent in reply asking for the name and phone number of a person to call.
I understand merchants will want to know what I'm up to before they sign me up to promote them. And on other networks these merchants have account managers I can ring for a chat if needs be.
So can anyone tell me what's so good about OMG that warrants such apparently strict signup criteria?

This is nothing finance related. Although even if it was I'd still expect them to give me a name and number to call if I wanted to pursue things. Not just a generic email address that doesn't get replied to.
Seems a funny way to do business. Or not, as the case may be lol!
I guess someone will contact me eventually, it does seem the networks with less than brilliant customer service usually respond to messages on here at some point...
Dear OMG,
Ok, I give up!
However, when the merchant and/or their account manager contacts me later this year to ask to be included in my site I shall be referring them to this forum thread.
Kind regards.
Ive no idea why OMG introduced their support ticket system
they dont use it
appalling, dreadful and many other superlatives spring to mind
Hi SimonK,
Sorry for the delayed response, I came across your post and so wanted to update you where possible.
Kier is right in saying that as a predominantly finance and insurance based affiliate network, the guidelines in place in order to approve an affiliate application to the network are perhaps marginally tougher than seen on other networks. Can I ask, is your website complete? Applications may be rejected should the site not be ready as we will be unable to determine/control the content. Likewise if it is not 100% clear how the site would benefit a client, again the application may be rejected.
I should add that all rejections are subject to appeal and should you feel that you have additional information to support your application, we would welcome this conversation.
Once again my apologies for the delayed response, should you have any addtional queries please feel to contact me on the details below and if I cannot help - I will find the relevant person who can.
Kind Regards
Simon
