I've emailed various staff at OMG and attempted to contact them via PM here on the forum (while their online) but haven't even had an acknowledgement!

Just an "OK we'll look into it and get back to you" would be nice.

Yes I could pick up the phone, but I thought I'd take advantage of their 'email support' and the convenience of the PM system here but this to me has become a matter of principal and respect.

    What's this all about?

When using IE7 (not sure if this happens with other browsers) Picture Loans affiliate links throw up the following error page but a direct URL is not effected ....

    *************************************************

There is a problem with this website's security certificate.

The security certificate presented by this website was issued for a different website's address.

Security certificate problems may indicate an attempt to fool you or intercept any data you send to the server.

When going to a website with an address such as https://example.com, try adding the 'www' to the address, https://www.example.com.
If you choose to ignore this error and continue, do not enter private information into the website.

For more information, see "Certificate Errors" in Internet Explorer Help.

    ************************************************** *

Correct me if I'm wrong but this is a fairly serious problem ???

Similarly I contacted OMG about Cooperative Bank Loans this time last year regarding a the fact that anyone following an affiliate link was greeted with "Page Unavailable
Unfortunately, this page is unavailable at present. Please try again later."

I removed links but checked them again just before the program was closed last July .... yep the problem was still ongoing!

It maybe an understatement but I feel OMG need to take a more proactive approach to monitoring their programs and customer support! To be fair, if these problems were somehow a fault on my behalf I apologise now, but still the issue of customer support stands.

    Hi Blackcat,

My name's Carla and I am the Affiliate Team Manager here at OMG.

I am really concerned to see your posting and would really appreciate the opportunity to discuss this with you. I have PM'd you to this effect giving you my direct line.

I do want to reassure you, and any other affiliate reading this post, that we do take both the issues you've rasied very seriously, and do our utmost to prevent, identify and resolve problems as soon as we possibly can.

With regards to the problems you've had with links - I want to stress that we have a number of stringent tests prior to campaign launch and a number of reports and automated checks ongoing, to monitor campaign performance and delivery.

We have also manually checked a number of affiliate links and scenarios as a result of your posting and this does appear to be a problem that only you are experiencing.

Therefore if you could contact me directly I'd be more than happy to work with you individually to get these issues resolved.

I look forward to hearing from you,

    Carla Arrindell

Poaching on other networks sections of the forum is incredibly bad forum etiquette.

Please don't do it - advertise in the lounge and in the finance thread by all means but not in the individual network forums.
Never argue with idiots. They just drag you down to their level and then beat you with their experience.

We're getting exactly the same security certificate error as Black Cat when browsing using IE7. Since the problem seems to have been ongoing for a number of weeks we've switched our links back to SmartQuotes.

    Hi Babafette,

I've just seen your post and this suggests that this problem is affecting more than just Blackcat's links.

Can I ask have you contacted your account manager here with regard to this issue? I'm keen to get as much information as possible to ensure we can resolve this.

I am working with our team here to investigate this further and I'll come back to you with more details shortly.

In the meantime if you, or any other affiliates reading this would like to discuss or have further concerns, then please contact me at the number below.

    Thanks,

    Hi Carla,

I have contacted our OMG account manager this afternoon.

I notice that a similar error is produced when using FireFox:

    "Security Error: Domain Name Mismatch

You have attempted to establish a connection with "www.pictureit.co.uk". However, the security certificate presented belongs to "www.picturetheloan.co.uk". It is possible, though unlikely, that someone may be trying to intercept your communication with this web site.

If you suspect the certificate shown does not belong to "www.pictureit.co.uk", please cancel the connection and notify the site administrator."

I would be really grateful if you could look into this as soon as possible.

    Thanks.

    Hi Babafette,

I'm glad you've been in touch with your account manager and thanks for giving us more info on this.

As first point of call, we have spot checked tracking url's across the program, and found that there were some instances of a long load time from click to page display. As a result of this we have 'refreshed' these tracking url's and up loaded them again and carried out further spot checks. Of those that we have tested, all are working normally.

However, given the additional info you've brought to light, there may be an issue with the domain's security certificate that could affect some users depending on their security settings and we are follwing this up with the merchant.

As you can appreciate these kinds of issues can take some time to resolve as there are a number of points at which the problem may be occuring, but we appreciate the urgency of this matter and will give you further details as quickly as we can.

    Thanks for your patience,

    Carla Arrindell

It's Michael vs. drivetowin again. This forum seems to be plagued with inappropriate plugs. Surely there are admins on this forum that can help eliminate such plugs.

Perhaps not though. From experience, the "school" doesn't seem to offer help at all. "Headmasters" that don't help, and responses that are unhelpful (Mr Anthony).
