  Link Circle

Does anyone know if the following would be an advantage or disadvantage with Google listings.

Lets say we had 3 websites A, B & C

Site A contains a link to B
Site B contains a link to C
Site C contains a link to A

Would Google peanilise all 3 sites because of inter linking?

I would say there would be advantage over the circle approach rather than reciprical linking but it is still not proven.

My personal favourite approach.....which my initial tests have shown to be good is:

Site A links to Site B
Site C (owner of site B) links to site A

By implementing this method, neither link cancels the other out......and there's no direct link relationship between all three sites, yet both site owners will benefit.

  Theory

Darren's suggestion is the better one of The Orbital / Satelite link system or you could try the Bicycle Wheel Theory ( Spinning in one direction) or The Concentric Cirlces working in unison with the Electron Field Mock Up could be stronger...even better combinations of all of the above.

For the first you have "By implementing this method, neither link cancels the other out......and there's no direct link relationship between all three sites, yet both site owners will benefit" for the latter options you have a major gain where a couple of sites would be recognised as a site deemed position of authority on a subject matter. To tweak it we use a an ever decreasing logarithic value.

And not one reciprocal link in place.

I might have to edit this at some stage to make it more comprehensible.

On the whole too much theory...not enough content.

Yep - some people "think" too much and "do" too little.

Targeted content wins hands-down!

Hi,

I read an ebook by so-called search engine expert Michael
Campbell - Revenge of the Mininet - which goes into great
detail about complex linking arrangements between sites.

(Much of the ebook consisted of diagrams of these linking
arrangements.)

I then visited some search engine forums and members
were very scathing about Michael Campbell (his sites
all seemed to have no PR - must have tried one too
many trick for Google's liking).

And I always think that when someone writes an article
(or ebook) about a technique or trick, then this technique has
stopped working.

Best thing to do (takes most time, though) is to create
a decent site. If a real live visitor says "wow!" then I
reckon Google will say "wow!" too.

Maybe this is theory too, but I don't think so.

Steve

  Now Lets get this straight

Are you lot saying that if I swap links with another site owner they will cancel each other out?

If thats true how on earth can you encourage people to link to you - what incentive can you give them?

I don't subscribe to this way of thinking myself. Getting links that only come in are of course great but I don't think they cancel each other out if someone links to you and you link back to them. I not seen any proof of this yet plus some of the top ranking people for some of the hardest terms are among some of the hardcore link exchange folk both to and from the same site.

The great thing about SEO is, everyone that ranks is always right and they all have different methods of how to get the position

On that note......I shall quote George Orwell in SEO terms

"All links are equal......but some are more equal than others"

There is alot of truth in that, however. A link from say, a home page with a PR 5 isn't as good as a link from a deeper page of a PR 6 - presuming that the number of outgoing links on that pages is equal......because if it isn't....then you have some more calculations to make. Then there's the subject of theming, keyword density.....content priority.......oh well.....keep reading, keep testing and find your own way of doing things

Just editing my spelling mistake from the original post, Clarke
