  GoogleRankings.com

Just checked on google rankings for a new website of mine and it is position 304 for a very popular keyword. I'd say this is ok to start with. What do I need to do to improve this now? Just links and content?

Also, how quickly do people find their rankings change with this tool??

Any help appreciated.

Thanks.

Yes more links, more content.

Erm the tool has no effect on the rate of change of your ranking. It just tells you what Google is sending it at that moment in time.

N.B. Google's results vary a little based on the country the request comes from, as such if you're based in the UK you could be a little higher or lower than googlerankings shows you to be.

Regards, S

If you're looking for a rank tracking website which will allow you to monitor multiple keywords and the change over time i can recommend teh keyword tool over at digitalpoint.com, it's pretty accurate and allows you to monitor your competitors too. I've used it for some time on my personal sites and found it real time saver.

Hi frazer987

Not just links, but inbound relevant links from sites that are of the same theme as yours.
Try to get the anchor text on those inbound links to be that of your target keywords too, Google seems to love those.

Keep a close look at your rankings over the next few days as Google seems to be having a dance.

Good luck with your new site,
Al

Remember that GoogleRankings isn't always accurate, it's sometimes better to manually search for your link. They once told me I was at position #400 and something, when I was actually in the top ten, it's still a good tool for general results though.

Try this tool,

http://www.accuracast.com/search-engine-rank.php

I have found it quite accurate and a real time saver if you want to check over a number of engines, the draw back is that it only reports 100 deep.

I would agree with David and say don't trust any tool completely. I always check my most important Keywords/phrases manually.

Links and content are good. For a simple but effective formula use a PR search engine to see what PR the top 10 sites have.
http://www.seochat.com/seo-tools/pagerank-search
See how your site compares. Concentrate on the sites with the lowest PR as these will have the best optimization for on page factors. They'll also let you know what your minimum PR will need to be to get into the top 10.

When my PR tool is finally released it'll do all this for you, alas the current AllAffiliatePro update is taking all my time at the moment (it'll all be more than worth it when v5 'magnum' is released ).
