  new site listed

What reasons would make it so that the googlebot refuses to even spider a site?

I've created a new site and I'm trying to get it spidered by google. I submitted it to the google add url form but google is still refusing to spider and list my site. Does anyone know why this would be the case?

Cheers
dalore

(a) google is king of itself. it'll do what it wants.

(b) do other sites link to it?

Surely getting listed shouldn't be that hard, at this stage I'm just worried about being indexed by google, rather then competing for the front page of the SERPS. Thats after I get listed.

In answer to your question for (b) No, its a brand new site and has noone linking to it. Could this be it? Do I need one link from a site thats indexed by google to link to my site before google lists my site?

Google loves links...

The rumour is that the "Submit a URL" from is just there to stop people emailing their site in.

Just one link is enough to start the process...

Thanks for the link Mogga, I'll create a links section on my site and starting adding links, yours will be the first.

djs, it looks like you missed an h off your http, but anyway, your site is in google, if you just http://www.google.com/search?q=http:...lutions.co.uk/ it shows up in google, even but with showing no links to you. But when you try the same with my site, it doesn't even show a listing.

I wonder if this is to do with PHP. Maybe if I send the right http headers to say that the pages can be cached for X amount of time google might list the page. Any search engine gurus out there know if using PHP for all your pages adversly affect your seach engine listings?
