Google only show the first line and then link to the news source, probably delivering lots of traffic, what is the problem ?

I assume cos they're subscription only. They don't offer a free version of their headlines.
Also they've asked google not to do it.

I thought ther was some kind of "fair use" law that allowed you to copy a small amount of text or something. I may be wrong though.

Fair use in my opnion would be one snippet from their site not EVERY news item.

Its the same as if someone used every title of every page off one of my sites. I'd not be best pleased.
