Correct usage of the h tags

Hi im trying to learn about h tags, could some one tell me what the correct usage of them should be ?

There used for marking off headings in your page and to give the page structure. They range from 1 - 6 indicating the order of importance of the text.

So the main page heading would be H1, then a sub heading under that would be H2, sub heading under that H3 etc

Essentially they are ment to highlight to search engines etc what keywords are priority for your page, H1 being of upmost importance.

Matching a TITLE and H1 tag is seen to be a good step in SEOness providing they are your most relevant keywords.

So as an example,

If my page is about the nokia n81 8gb and that is allso the pages main keyword
the heading should be h1 nokia n81 8gb.

What if the other keywords for that page are directly similar to the first, example,

nokia n81 8gb mobile phone, nokia n81 etc

wouldnt using these in the h2 etc tags be seen as stuffing ?.

Is it ok just to use the h1 tag on its own?

Just to remind you i dont know what im talking about here, im just thinking out loud!

Not ideal though, you should always try to have atleast your H1 tag as high up the code as possible, easier for the bots etc.

Putting a slight alteration on the H2 tag is fine, its not stuffing, the search engines don't treat stuffing in the same way as they once did.

Your H1 tag sounds fine, but make sure you are aiming for an achievable keyword/phrase. If its impossible for you to compete in the serps, try a different variation of the keyword/phrase that you might have more luck with.

You don't need to Keyword Stuff, just use the keywords in your titles as you normally would with a structured bit of writing eg

h1 All about the nokia n81 /h1

blah blah blah

h2 Nokia N81 8gb of Memory /h2

The Nokia N81 comes complete with 8Gb of memory, great for storing all your pictures, music and videos!

Write the text sensibly, but still use your keywords as well
