Question I'm in, then I'm not, then I am...

I have added a link to a web site to get my new site into Google without submitting the URL and I have done this many times for different web sites. However, the latest web site went into Google in a few hours as normal but, when I do a search which I now the site is in position #1 it is sometimes there and sometimes not there. I have also used the Google site:Domain Names - Your Web Identity, domain name registration, top level domain names, domain name auction, domain name suffix information, i want to register a domain name, where can i buy a domain name, business domain names, domain transfer request f search to find which pages are in the Google cache and sometimes there is and sometimes there isn't pages listed listed.

Now I think I know why but would just like someone to confirm or deny what I think is wrong. Obviously Google ahve many servers which are used when a query is made and those servers are all updated at different times so some servers may have my web site in their cache while some may not - is this right?

Thats exactly right.

Google has a number of different servers, and it's entirely random which one you hit, according to your location and which servers are the least busy (as there load balanced).

As a result, it can take a while for all the servers to update so they all show the same results, so if the sites new or changes have been made, you can appear in different positions each time you search.

The time is takes for all the servers to synchronize varies, but it's usually done in a couple of days.

Simple because Google has many datacenters.

offtopic: your title is stuffed with keywords, keep it short.

I just used DomainName.com -- Reserve Your Place In Cyberspace with DomainName.com Domain Name Registration Services! as an example - it's not my site but thanks for the feedback anyway.

As mentioned above google has many datacenters - The google datacenter watch tool is very handy and you can use it to check the results on most of them

The site is now listed as normal and I'm getting #1 in Google for some phrases and top half of page one for others. It was all to do with the different Google servers being updated at different times.
