<p>Like many sites most sales happen within 48 hours (2 Days) however it's not uncommon to see a sale outside of this period. Currently the record for the longest time from visit to sale on the Natural Instinct site is when someone visited on the 30 Aug 2003 - 21:56:51, had made the last purchase on 01 Feb 2004 - 22:16:12 due to the site involved the person visited to take up the free vibrator offer, has been getting the Natural Instinct newsletters and came back to the site to make a purchase for a valentines gift. Normally if the cookie had been a short one, then this would be a sale that you certainly would not have made, however in this case not only did the customer have a valid cookie after all this time (unusual in these days of cookie removing programs) but was also on the customer base for the affiliate with Natural Instinct due to the free gift promotion. The cookies are always counted before customer base is checked to make sure the last affiliate to send the customer gets credited with the sale (making it a fair and level playing field for new and old affiliates), in the case of this sale the affiliate with the cookie was also the affiliate the customer was registered for in the customer base so he would have got the sale regardless of what way was used to track the sale.

<p><strong>Customer Base</strong>

<p>Paid On Results has been instrumental in pushing and developing this feature, we are one of the few networks that has this is an integral part of the network and we glad to say we are turning more and more merchants on to the possibilities of customer building and high profile awareness that customer base brings with it. Customer base helps make an affiliate a "partner" in your business, and it's in the affiliates benefit to get customers to you and to remind them of your site periodically.

<p>What it means for affiliates, quite simply your are getting paid extra commission for sales from Natural Instinct that you would not get with any merchant or network that can not offer you customer base.

<p>Feb 2004 - 4.59% of total sales.
<br>Jan 2004 - 4.56% of total sales.
<br>Dec 2003 - 4.82% of total sales.

Just to add to this that the free vibrator offer has worked incredibly well, mainly i think because a lot of people have never used sex toys and it's an easy introduction. Once they've tried the free vibrator they come back for a rabbit or something similar.
