John seems to know their stuff
Is this program network-linked to NI, a la Prezzybox/DesignerBox and DatetheUK/SexintheUK?

Just asking as I noticed the latest NI newsletter going out to all "my" customer base is heavily promoting Gadget Storm, and I know Jon would normally have things like this covered.

Hi John,
in the message centre mail I received,

Quote:
As you're already an affiliate of Natural Instinct you can make use of
the network tracking feature which means that any visitor you send to
either site will earn you money when they shop at either site.

Ok that's been added but just to be very clear here, Network-linked sites work best with cookie based sales, Customer Base sales will work however the problem exists that the user might have changed some details from being with one site and ordering with another, our system will match as best it can such as if the email address for one customer was the same over both sites then this would be a 100% match and you get credited for it.

However the good news is that cookies are "backwards compatible", and as NI has 999 Day cookie (so has Gadget Storm) it will mean that anyone who has got a prior cookie for NI installed and visits and buys from Gadget Strom that these sales will count.

Also network-linked sites belong to there own little groups, so if something is network linked, it’s only linked to a few sites and doesn’t effect or transfer to any other network linked sites out side of the group that site belongs in. However one great feature and we are yet to see merchants do this, is for merchants from totally different companies to join a network together. For example it’s possible for a dating site and say an adult toy store to link up with each other, i.e. one has a link for dating and the other has an adult toy link if any of the affiliates traffic was to turn up on one site but join or purchase from the other, the sales commission would still be credited to the affiliate. Same goes if each where to give a mention to the other in a newsletter as long as the person reading it still had a valid cookie then you still get credited with the sale, provided of course each merchant is on Paid On Results

Edit: Update as I have just been told by technical that I got the non-cookie customer base part wrong and in fact that can track over more than one site.

errr..... glad that's all sorted

by the way, people keep asking me for the product feed. I though i posted the link but here it is again....

http://www.gadgetstorm.com/productfeed

You'll need excel to open it but if anyone wants me to convert it to CSV I can do that too. (although we'd prefer people downloaded the excel one as it's produced live every time you download it so it's never out of date).

Is there anyway the feeds can be downloaded as CSV
Excel is such a pain as I have to manually convert whereas for CSV I can just automate the whole process

Sorry Anthony, the asp.net script produces an excel file (much easier to do than csv) and I can only convert it the same way as you do, by loading it into excel and exporting. I'm happy to do this if you want though.

See what demand is like from others. But if you were say to convert once a week and upload to /feed.csv on your site then that might be useful to a few others not just me.
i.e. you convert once a week rather than 40 affiliates each indeependently doing the same thing each week.

Same would be good for NI & Snapdragon too obviously.

I generally update my feeds weekly, more often does seem to be worth the extra hassle.
